Within a trip, time goes forwards. A vehicle that reaches the next stop before it leaves this one, or leaves a stop before it gets there, is either a time machine or an export bug. Usually it is a trip past midnight written as 00:10 instead of 24:10.
The law
A trip where a stop's arrival is earlier than the previous stop's departure, or a stop's departure is earlier than its own arrival.
Times past 24:00:00 are fine, and so are times past 48:00:00: Amtrak's long distance trains legitimately run that long.
A rewind of 22 hours or more is marked in the evidence as a likely time past midnight written from 00:00. It is still time travel.
Only trips whose service still runs are judged.
How to get pardoned
Times count from the start of the service day. A trip that starts at 23:50 and runs past midnight goes 23:50, 24:05, 24:20.
